About Us

Our Heads

My name is Vivian Zhong and I am a junior at Hopkins School, New Haven. From a young age, I was taught all about finance and started investing in the stock market. In high school, I started learning economic principles and competed in the NEC. I founded FinTech to inspire young students and help them build their own interest in finance.

My name is Andie Hendley, and I am currently a junior at Hopkins School in New Haven. I first became interested in coding while using websites like Scratch and continued to grow this interest on the robotics team. By learning how to code through various classes and hands-on experience coding a robot, my passion for coding continues to grow, and is something I hope to share with others.

Our Story

From Viv

In the summer of 2024, I traveled to China to teach the first class of our financial literacy program to a group of underserved students and I saw firsthand how important learning finance is from a young age. During the next school year, I founded the FinTech Initiative with our goal to continue teaching financial literacy to make this impact in my own community. I asked Andie if she wanted to help me create a program in New Haven. She agreed and brought the idea of including digital literacy as the two are becoming more and more intertwined. Together, we built our organization to reach as many schools as we can.

Our Mission

To empower young minds with essential financial and digital literacy skills, equipping them with the knowledge to manage money wisely and the technical skills to thrive in a digital world.
Through engaging, hands-on programs, we teach young students the fundamentals of financial responsibility and coding, fostering confidence and future-ready skills.

Our Impact

Since our founding in 2024, we have reached around 50 students across 6 schools through 15 hands-on classes.
We have expanded significantly, teaching at more schools and growing our volunteer team. In the future, we’re excited to launch a new business program for middle school students in partnership with FBLA and continue reaching out to more schools and volunteers to broaden our impact.
